Listen to Obituary

Ms. Willie Nell (Ransom) Shields, 79, passed away in her home of 42 years on August 20th, 2025, with family by her side. She was the youngest child of William D. Ransom and Mary Lee (Stewart) Ransom, born on May 8th, 1946 in Cleburne, Texas at Johnson County Hospital.

More commonly known as Nell, she is preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Julian G. Shields of Fort Worth, brothers Jerry Dobbins of California and Charles Dobbins of Cleburne. She is survived by one, loving sister, Dixie (Ransom) Jividen.

Nell spent most of her life happily raising her six children, and loving on her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one of her sons, Michael G. Honea, and is survived by her five children, son’s Robby Honea, and Kenneth Hunter, and daughters Lisa (Honea) Lanham, Denise Honea, and Jessica Shields. Her grandchildren Kryste Honea, Kacey Honea, Houston Lee Moore, Jarett Honea, Alex Salisbury, and Kobe Salisbury, and her sweet dogs Izzy and Chewy.

Lovingly referred to as Nanny, she enjoyed having her family in her home to celebrate holidays, homecomings, or just to catch up. And, no matter the occasion, she was always in charge of the gravy.

She will be greatly missed by her children, grandchildren, and all who had the pleasure to know our sassy, sweet Nell.

A graveside service for family and friends will be held on Monday, August 25th, 2025 at 10:00am at Rosehill Cemetery in Cleburne, on the corner of S Washington and E 2nd where she will be laid to rest next to her Mother and Father, in the North West corner of the property.
