Wella Pauline “Polly” Swearingen, 79, of Azle, Texas, formerly of Amarillo, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in Bryson, Texas, to the late Walter William Burgess and Alma Cordelia (Riddle) Burgess, and lived a life filled with love, laughter, and compassion.
She was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Elbert Dan Swearingen, with whom she shared many wonderful years. Together they built a home rooted in warmth, humor, and unwavering love.
Polly spent much of her life caring for others — both family and friends — and was known as a devoted caretaker with a heart full of kindness. Whether she was offering a helping hand, a warm meal, or a listening ear, she always put others before herself. Her gentle spirit and selflessness touched countless lives.
Polly is survived by her distant son William and husband Darin, son Stan Swearingen and wife Carla of Amarillo, son Jerry Dan Swearingen and wife Gaynelle of Azle, and daughter Delana Galloway and husband Kenny of Cleburne. She also leaves behind six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, all of whom were her greatest pride and joy.
Those who knew Polly will always remember her kind heart, her genuine smile, and her wonderful ability to make people laugh—often unintentionally. Her humor, compassion, and love for her family will be dearly missed.
