Wayne Shrewsbury "Spider"

Memorial service for Wayne H. Shrewsbury “Spider”, 79, of Cleburne, will be held at 2:30 P.M., Saturday, September 3, 2022, at the Hitchin’ Post Chapel in Cleburne. Charlie Whiteside will officiate.

Wayne passed away Tuesday, August 30, 2022, in Cleburne. He was born March 7, 1943, in Sewickley, Pennsylvania to Edward Howard and Carolyn Mildred (Merriman) Shrewsbury. He was one of 5 children, including his beloved identical twin, Edward Shrewsbury who preceded him in death in April of 2019. In 1966, he would marry the love of his life, Diane and be blessed with two little girls. While serving as Staff Sargent in the United States Army, his first little girl would make her way into the world. Wayne was a beautiful spirit, giving his whole self to whomever was fortunate enough to cross his path. He loved his community and had a deep passion to make a difference in the lives of those he touched. For more than 20 years, he gave selflessly to the Boy Scouts, guiding, nurturing and teaching so many young boys. Many of those young men, call him "Dad".

Wayne is survived by his children, Tina Schmitt and spouse, Terry of Cleburne, Texas and Penny Ives and spouse, Jeff of Melissa, Texas; grandchildren, Zach Ives, Noah Ives, Hayden Schmitt, and Tatum Schmitt; sisters, Nancy Fennell of Irving, Texas and Kathy Frazier and spouse, Danny of Bristol, Texas; brother, David Shrewsbury of Irving, Texas; along with numerous nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives, friends and extended family.
