Van Grubbs, a man whose hands and heart shaped the world around him with boundless creativity and unwavering kindness, passed away peacefully on April 15, 2026, in Godley. Born on March 22, 1952, in Fort Worth, Van lived a life marked by an extraordinary ability to do it all—diving wholeheartedly into every challenge and crafting beauty from seemingly simple beginnings.
Van’s talents were as diverse as they were profound. He possessed a unique gift for building things that endured not only in form but in spirit. His passion for woodworking and set design was well known, and he brought a special expertise in aging props and sets to authentically reflect different time periods, a skill that enriched countless productions and brought stories vividly to life on stage. His dedication to his craft reflected his broader approach to life: heartfelt and imbued with respect for the details that give meaning and history.
Beyond his artistic pursuits, Van generously gave his time to the USO, traveling abroad and embodying the steadfast support and goodwill that so defined his character. He was a loving husband, a devoted family man, and above all, a deeply Godly man whose gentle and kind nature touched all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Chester Lee Grubbs and Ada Merle (Webber) Grubbs. Survivors include his beloved wife, Geraldine Grubbs; his sister Carolyn Shirley and her husband Joe; his bonus children Stephanie Bullis and her husband Todd, and Chester Weir and his wife Kristy; eleven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and his beloved dog, Lucy.
Van Alan Grubbs will be remembered as a masterful creator, a gentle spirit, and a beacon of faith and kindness. His life’s work and love leave an indelible mark on all fortunate enough to have known him.
