Steve passed away in the early morning of Saturday, July 25, 2026, in Fort Worth, Texas. He was born on August 22, 1955, in Cleburne. Steve married Cherilyn Holland on May 12, 2012, in Grandview. By trade, Steve was a welder and mechanic for over 50 years, mostly a self-employed contractor contracting for many companies throughout that time. He believed in working hard and instilled that belief in those around him. He was a skilled tradesman whose talent and work ethic were unmatched. He took immense pride in everything he built, repaired and created. He believed that if a job was worth doing, it was worth doing right. His attention to detail and commitment to excellence made him a true perfectionist, earning the respect and admiration of everyone who had the privilege of working alongside him.
Steve loved hunting, fishing and was also a talented leather craftsman. His leatherworks were true works of art. Steve was a lover of western antiques and collectibles, but spurs were his favorite finds and he was always up for a good trade. Steve was a horseman as well and enjoyed just being around horses if not riding one. Above all else, Steve was a Christian and a family man. His love of family and strong faith were his foundation. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Cleburne. While Steve wasn’t known to be socially outgoing, he was a devoted friend, one who was willing to be there for his friends, no matter what – at a drop of a hat. Though our hearts are broken by his absence, we find comfort in the memories we shared and the lasting impact he had on everyone fortunate enough to know him. He will be deeply missed, forever loved and never forgotten.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Ross Wayne & Venita Joyce Quattlebaum Moore.
Survivors include his wife, Cherilyn Holland Moore; children, Josh Moore & wife, Jessica; Justin Moore & wife, Stacy; Niki (Moore) McMillan; Shane Neal & wife, Amber; and Nicholas Neal; 12 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; siblings, Kenny Moore & his wife, Cheryl, Glenda & her husband, Brett Salmon, and Ronda & her husband, J.R. Gregory; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.
