Stephen Ike Griffith was born on July 24, 1953, to Rhoda Corrine and Jack Griffith. Ike went to be with his Savior on February 10, 2026, at the age of 72. He was a beloved husband, daddy, and pawpaw, and a devoted disciple of Jesus Christ whose greatest joy was loving God and loving people.

Ike graduated from Grandview High School in 1971 and went on to earn his Bachelor of Arts degree from Baylor University in 1976. A proud Grandview Zebra through and through, he carried his love for his hometown everywhere he went. He married the love of his life, Trina, on November 12, 1977, and together they made their home in Grandview for most of their lives.

Ike built a remarkable 35‑year career as a firefighter for the City of Dallas, serving as a paramedic, driver engineer, and a dedicated member of the Texas Task Force 2 urban search and rescue team. He continued his service to the Dallas Fire Department even after retirement as an active member of the Honor Guard and Dallas Retired Firefighter’s association. Ike had a gift for knowing exactly what needed to be done and doing it without hesitation—whether on a rescue call, in a moment of crisis, or simply when someone needed a helping hand. His commitment to service extended deeply into his community, where he spent many years on the Grandview ISD school board, including time as board president. Ike was also devoted to the church, pouring his heart into youth ministry, summer camps, and mission work, always pointing others toward the hope he found in Christ.

Ike and Trina relocated to Whitney, Texas, in 2003. For the past 12 years Ike continued to serve faithfully as an active member of Whitney Fellowship. His heart for young people never faded, and he invested deeply in the youth of both the church and the local schools.

Ike never met a stranger. Every person he encountered was welcomed with warmth, kindness, and genuine love. He loved people the way Jesus did—freely, fully, and without condition. He encouraged others with a steady presence, a genuine hug, a gentle word, or a simple act of service, often stepping in before anyone even realized help was needed. His life was a quiet but powerful testimony of grace, patience, goodness, gentleness, and faithfulness.

His devotion to Grandview remained strong throughout his life, and nothing delighted him more than cheering on the Zebras—especially once his grandkids took the field and carried on the tradition. Whether in the stands, on the sidelines, or watching from afar, he was their biggest fan.

Ike was preceded in death by his father, Jack Griffith; mother, Rhoda Corrine Ward Griffith; brother, Larry Griffith; He is survived by his loving wife, Trina Diane Ellis Griffith; daughter, Tracey Porter, and husband, Ryan Porter; son, Stephen Griffith, and wife, Ashley Griffith; six grandchildren—Jackson Porter, Kenna Porter, Gunner Griffith, Landry Porter, Grace Griffith, and Gatlin Griffith; brother, Jack Griffith; sister, Janey McGrath, as well as numerous family and friends.

Though Ike now resides with his Heavenly Father, the impact of his kindness lives on in the countless hearts he touched. His legacy is one of unwavering faith, humble service, deep compassion, and a love that never ran out.
