Service for Simon A. Rangel, Jr., 75, of Rio Vista, will be conducted at 2:00 P.M., Thursday at the First United Pentecostal Family Church.
Simon passed away Sunday, October 4, 2020 in Fort Worth. He was born July 21, 1945 in Wichita Falls to Simon E. and Amanda A. Rangel. He married Christy Peterson on February 14, 2018 in Cleburne.
Simon retired after 37 years of service for Oncor as a Line Foreman Distribution Consultant. After retirement, Simon continued on to work for McCurley Enterprises Inc. as a Consultant until his death.
Simon was an avid golfer, played a lot of baseball and enjoyed sports. He was also a Golden Gloves boxing Champion and later served in several Professional Boxing Events. He would keep $100 bills in his pocket to give to people. He spoiled his wife and never ceased to look out for his family and friends. Simon was a hard working man and a man of faith. To know Simon was to love him. He will be greatly missed.
Simon is survived by his wife, Christy Rangel; sons Onesimus Rangel and wife Candace, Dominy Rangel; step-sons, Sterlin Peterson and wife Taytem, Justinian Peterson; step-daughter, Monique Peterson and husband Travis Hayes; 6 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; sisters Irene R. Diaz, Anita R. Hargis and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family and loving friends.
Simon is preceded in death by his parents and brothers Tommy Rangel and Benny Rangel.
