A funeral service for Shirley Catherine (Tipping) Brown, 84, of Joshua, will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, July 27, 2026, in the Crosier-Pearson Cleburne Funeral Home Chapel located at 512 N Ridgeway Dr, Cleburne, TX 76033 with Pastor Jeff Stanley officiating. Interment will follow in the Rosehill Cemetery, located at 960 E. Second St., Cleburne, TX 76031 with Shea Brown, Jeremy Carper, Brendan Whitehead, Michael Whitehead, Austin Waterman, Tyler Waterman, and John Lawrence serving as pallbearers. There will be a time of visitation from 9:00-10:00 AM on Monday, July 27, 2026, prior to service.
Shirley Catherine (Tipping) Brown, passed away peacefully on July 21, 2026, in Burleson. She was born on November 28, 1941, in Blooming Grove, Texas.
Shirley was a beacon of warmth, faith, and a vibrant love for life that touched everyone around her. Throughout her life, Shirley embodied the true essence of kindness, compassion, and steadfast devotion. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, whose unwavering dedication to her family formed the heart of her world. Known for her feisty and strong-willed spirit, Shirley faced every challenge with remarkable courage and an infectious sense of humor. Her laughter was a constant reminder of her joy in life and her ability to find light even in difficult times.
Shirley’s talents and passions were many. With a deep love for gardening, she found solace and happiness working in her yard, tending to her plants, and nurturing the beauty around her. An avid collector, Shirley found joy in gathering trinkets of all kinds, each one representing a memory, a moment, or a story she cherished. Her collections became treasured reflections of her interests, curiosity, and the happiness she found in simple pleasures.
Faith played a central role in Shirley’s life. Deeply devoted to her church and her beliefs, she found inspiration and peace in her spiritual journey. Her commitment to serving others and her church community was unwavering, and she brought comfort and joy to many through her acts of service and kindness. Shirley never met a stranger; she loved everybody and everyone loved her. She extended a welcoming hand and a warm heart to all she encountered. Her legacy of love, acceptance, and inclusion endures in the lives of those she touched.
Shirley is preceded in death by her parents, Coy Doyle and Irene Adelia (Minefee) Tipping and brothers, Doyle Tipping, Elmer Tipping, Edgar Tipping, and Donald Tipping.
She is survived by her husband of 68 years and the love of her life, Edward Brown; children, Carol Carper & her husband, Jerry, Cathy Waterman & her husband, Jim, Chuck Brown & his wife April, Coye Brown & his wife Diana; grandchildren, Michael Whitehead & his wife, Amanda, Keisha Whitehead & her husband, Keith, Brittany Lee & her husband, Garrett, Jeremy Carper & his wife, Tiare, Brandi McDonald & her husband, James, Tyler Waterman, Austin Waterman & his wife, Aly, Krystal Brown & her fiancé, Chase, Ashley Thornton & her fiancé, Daniel, Machelle Thornton & her fiancé, Justin, Shane Strickland & his wife, Itzel, Randy Erickson, Shea Brown & his wife, Sabrina, Noah Hedger, and Nathan Hedger; 33 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; sister, Dorothy Fletcher, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
