A funeral service for Shirley Ann (Roye) Poteet, 80, of Blum, will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, August 12, 2026 in the Crosier-Pearson Cleburne Funeral Home, located at 512 N Ridgeway Dr, Cleburne, TX 76033 with Mr. Alton Harwell officiating. Interment will follow in Rosehill Cemetery, 960 E. Second St., Cleburne, TX 76031 with Trystan Poteet, Trevor Fisher, Joe Poteet, Jake Poteet, William Young and Bill Martindale serving as pallbearers. Isaiah Poteet will serve as honorary pallbearer. There will be a time of visitation of family and friends from 6:00-8:00 PM at the funeral home on Tuesday, August 11, 2026.

Shirley Ann Poteet passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 6, 2026 in Blum. She was born on February 26, 1946, in Cleburne. Her long and fulfilling life touched countless people through her unwavering commitment to her family, remarkable work ethic, and steadfast dedication to her community.

Over the course of more than fifty years, Shirley exemplified dependability and diligence as a bookkeeper for Cross Roads Auto, Bob’s Auto, and 4M. Her professional journey also included successful endeavors in selling Avon and real estate. Shirley’s integrity, attention to detail, and commitment to excellence earned her the trust and respect of colleagues and friends alike.

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Shirley was a beloved wife and a devoted family member, always putting her loved ones first and doing anything in her power to support and care for them. Her family and friends remember her as a beacon of strength and generosity, someone who spent her days enriching the lives of those around her.

Shirley’s passion for gardening and flowers brought beauty into her home and to those who visited. She found special joy among blooming flowers, nurturing her garden with the same care she extended to her relationships.

In addition to her personal and professional achievements, Shirley made lasting contributions to her community. She served as a long-time board member for Blum ISD. Shirley was also a proud member of the Future Homemakers of America, demonstrating her lifelong commitment to leadership, service, and the betterment of others.

Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Neal Poteet, and parents, H. A. Roye and Harriett Allean "Pat" Watson.

She is survived by her son, Tim Poteet & his wife, LaDonna; daughter, Amy Wood & her husband, David, and grandchildren, Trystan Poteet, Trevor and Gabby Fisher, William Young, Joe Roye Poteet, Jake Bow Poteet, Abigayle Poteet, and Isaiah Poteet.
