Shirley Ann (Borääs) Empson passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 13, 2026, in Keene, Texas. She was born on January 16, 1948.

Shirley will be remembered for the joy she found in everyday pleasures and for the warmth she brought to those around her. She enjoyed going to estate sales, going gambling, coloring, crocheting and quilt making. She also loved going out to eat with her soulmate and family, and she had a special love for Rock and Roll music. Above all, Shirley loved to laugh, and that laughter was part of the happiness she shared with others throughout her life.

Those who knew Shirley will remember a woman who embraced simple joys, treasured time with the people she loved, and brought a spirited presence wherever she went. Her memory will live on in the many moments of laughter, music, and companionship she created with family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Orton Elred Borääs and Doris Marie (Hoodie) Borääs, and sister, Donna Marie Borääs.

Shirley is survived by her children, Christopher Empson, Michael Empson, and Kim Griepe; grandchildren, Kristi Empson, Dylan Empson, and Andrew Empson; great-grandchild, Octavia Cotter; life-long companion, friend and soulmate of 35 years, Charles Keith Shepherd; siblings, Debbie Northrop & her husband, Doyle and Brian Borääs.
