Sheila Key, a beloved daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, passed away peacefully on April 7, 2026, in Grandview, Texas. Born on November 18, 1944, in Fort Worth, Texas, Sheila’s life was marked by kindness, dedication, and a spirited love for her family and her passions.
Sheila was the very first Miss Burleson, a testament to her grace and charm, and she carried that same poise throughout her life. Professionally, she devoted herself to caring for others as a hemodialysis nurse, where her compassion and expertise made a meaningful impact on countless patients and colleagues alike. Her commitment to her work was matched only by her deep love of family and her enthusiasm as a lifelong Dallas Cowboys fan. Sheila’s greatest joy came from spending time with those she loved.
She was preceded in death by her son, Gary Don Huffman; her parents, Edwin Eugene Key and Frances Maurine Garner; and her brothers Dennis Key, Alvon Key, and Jimmy Key. Survivors include her daughter, Elizabeth Robbins and her husband John; her sister, Rochelle Hardin and her husband Ricky; her grandsons Cody, Jimmie, and Steven; granddaughters, Lacie, Kelsie, Ashlie, Carrie and Brooklyn; several great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.
Sheila Key will be remembered as a beacon of strength, kindness, and loyalty. Her legacy lives on in the family she cherished and the many lives she touched through her care and friendship.
