Funeral services will be held for Sandra “Sandy” Forehand Gillick, 79, long-time resident of Arlington, will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, September 15, 2026 in the Crosier-Pearson Cleburne Funeral Home Chapel, located at 512 N. Ridgeway Drive, Cleburne, Texas 76033. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, September 15, 2026 at Moore Memorial Gardens, located at 1219 N. Davis Drive, Arlington, Texas 76012. Chaplain Eddy Carrel will serve as officiant for both services. There will be a time of visitation and fellowship for friends and family at Crosier-Pearson Cleburne Funeral Home from 6:00-8:00 PM on Monday, September 14, 2026. Memorials may be made to your local Toys for Tots chapter at www.toysfortots.org – one of Sandy’s favorite organizations to give to. The family asks that everyone wear her favorite color, pink or any bright and cheery colored clothing as we celebrate Sandy and her life – reflecting the positivity and brightness that she brought to others.

Sandra “Sandy” Forehand Gillick passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 8, 2026 in Cleburne, leaving behind a legacy of love, testament of living life to its fullest and example of giving back to others. She was born to Alvin Ray “Pop” & Esther Authula “Thula” Haven Forehand on June 13, 1947 in Greenville, Texas. Sandy married the love of her life, Richard Edward Gillick, on October 21, 1972 in Fort Worth, Texas. They were married 28 years at the time of his death on January 18, 2000. Sandy never re-married and always looked back on her marriage with a full-heart and smile. She was of the Christian faith.

Sandy was proud to have worked in the banking and financial industry prior to having and raising her children. However, she was the ultimate homemaker and, in her element, to say the least, hosting family gatherings – especially during the holidays, where her decorating was something to witness and is still talked about today. Sandy was the kind of mother and Gammaw that everyone who was blessed to meet her, wished they had. She inspired those around her to be the kind of mother and grandmother she was just by being around her and her family. Sandy believed in working hard, tending to your responsibilities and making the most of your time. She was known for her ability to find the best deals and sharing her tips on finances with those she loved. Few could find a better deal than Sandy Gillick could!

Sandy was talented in her cake decorating and sewing skills alike. She could design anything really and enjoyed creating memorable cakes, costumes, clothing and many other items that helped make her house a home. No doubt, her sweet-tooth helped in her cake decorating days. She never lost that love of sweets either!

Sandy was outgoing and enjoyed traveling any time she could, but especially her trips to Winstar Casinos. It has been said that Sandy was a “rambler and gambler” and if you spent any amount of time with her - you know that is true. Sandy was a devoted, Dallas Cowboys fan, no matter what – and was quick to tell you about her love of the game and her boys. She enjoyed playing games of all kinds with anyone brave enough to play with her and going to the movie theater with her granddaughters. Sandy was a collector of Precious Moments and a lover of Disney, especially of Mickey Mouse. Her outgoing and bubbly nature made you want to spend time with her and left you better for having known her. She and Richard enjoyed being outdoors, camping and fishing as a family. They were members of the Western Wheelers Camping Club for many years - traveling all over various campgrounds. Sandy was also an animal lover, especially of dogs.

She could appear quiet, but if you knew her, you knew not to let that appearance fool you. Sandy was a strong-willed lady with an independent streak and a big heart. She was giving of her time, talents and resources to many, especially those she loved. Her tender heart made her endearing to the countless lives she touched throughout the years. Sandy will be missed beyond measure and remembered for how she lit up every room she entered with her big heart and contagious smile.

Sandy is preceded in death by her parents, Alvin and Thula Forehand; husband, Richard Edward Gillick; and brother, Kenneth Ray Forehand.

She is survived by her daughter, Renee Gillick Turman & her husband, Kris; son, Michael Edward Gillick & his wife, Lacie; grandchildren, Makayla Rayven Burden & her husband, Dakota, Kyndall Paige Clark & her husband, Arthur, Tate Brent McCall & his fiancé, Kaylie, and Ashton Michelle Lafountain & her husband, Dalton; great-grandchildren, Acely Paige Clark, Freyja Paige Clark, Krystal Abygail Lafountain, Conner Dwight Lafountain, and Paisley Nicole Lafountain; sister-in-law, Lynn Forehand; niece, Laurie Ann White; nephew, Brad Forehand; and many other extended family members and friends, including her grand-dog, Piper.
