Services for Sadie Mae Baldwin, 81, of Cleburne, will be conducted at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, October 7, 2023, at Greater Mt. Zion Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8:00 P.M. Friday, October 6, 2023, at the funeral home. Serving as pallbearers are Jonathan Baldwin, Jr., Neal Clark, Dexter Baldwin, Keyshawn Baldwin, Trask Baldwin, and Landiair Clark.

Sadie departed this life on Monday, October 2, 2023. She was born July 1, 1942 to Gill Sr., and Novella Atkins Baldwin in Dayton, Texas. At the age of thirteen, she accepted Christ and was baptized at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church. After graduating from Dayton High School in 1960, she went on to pursue her formal education at Paul Quinn College in Waco, Texas. Sadie graduated in 1964, and returned to Dayton where she taught English and coached basketball and track & field at Dayton High School. In the 1960’s, she moved to Cleburne, Texas where she worked for 9 years as a laborer for the Santa Fe Railroad and then as a Residential Therapist for Johnson County MHMR and Pecan Valley with over 20 years of service. After Sadie moved to Cleburne she attended Saint Paul CME Church, where she served for many years as the youth Director. She had a passion for writing and directing plays for the youth ministry. She also sang in the Saint Paul church choir. She would move her membership to Greater Mount Zion Baptist Church after her brother, David, became pastor to worship along with her family. Throughout her life, Sadie Baldwin touched the hearts of many with her unwavering dedication to education, community, and faith. Sadie was known as an excellent baker; renown throughout the neighborhood & on her jobs, and a thoughtful caretaker to many. She will forever be remembered as a cherished member of her community, leaving behind a legacy of love and service that will continue to inspire all who knew her.

She leaves to cherish her memory: her son, Jonathan Baldwin Sr.; grandchildren, Denishia Tijerina, Bre'Anna Clark and husband, Neal, and Jonathan Baldwin Jr. and wife, Hailey; great-grandchildren, Landiair Clark, Alayiah Clark, and Naomi Clark; brothers, Reverend David Baldwin and wife, Betty, and Louis Baldwin and wife, Danielle; sister, Daroyl Lynn Bush; and a number of nieces, nephews, family & friends.

Sadie was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Gill Baldwin, Jr., and Cornelius Baldwin; her sister, Alice Faye Brooks; and nephew, David Baldwin, Jr.
