Ella Ruth Brown passed away on Monday, October 26, 2026, in Cleburne, Texas. She was born August 1, 1944, in Dumas Texas to Lula Margaret Williams and Ralph Edward Williams. She married Frederick C. Brown on June 4, 1983, in Cleburne Texas.
Ruth lived a life marked by service, hard work, curiosity, and deep devotion to her family. Over the years, she served as a Rio Vista Judge and as Municipal Court Clerk in Cleburne. She also worked as the Walls Hospital unit secretary, owned North Texas Driving Agency and a barbecue restaurant, and held many other administrative positions. Her dedication to learning remained a constant throughout her life. She took classes through Kilgore College, North Texas State University, Tarrant County Jr. College, Hill College, St. John Ambulance Service, Walls/THR Training School, Law Enforcement Training, and continuing education courses for court managers.
Above all, Ruth loved her whole family. She was especially known for making full Saturday morning breakfasts for her grandchildren, a tradition that brought warmth and joy to those she loved most. She treasured watching them grow and making memories with them on road trips to the mountains, Colorado, New Mexico, Galveston, and the Gulf of Mexico. She loved staying with them at Woodman Camp for many years and in taking them to the circus, the Fort Worth Zoo, and Fossil Rim. She also loved her rides with Popo all across the state.
Ruth found happiness in many interests and hobbies. She enjoyed oil painting, reading, furniture restoration, sewing, arts and crafts, walking while pulling her grandchildren in the wagon, and making her grandkid's birthday cakes. These simple and creative pleasures reflected her generous spirit and the care she poured into everyday life.
Though her family grieves her passing, they also hold close the comfort of knowing that she is now with Popo and at peace. Her memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
She was proceeded in death by her husband, Fredrick C Brown; parents, Lula Margaret Williams and Ralph Edward Williams; daughters, Margaret Sesille and Annelda Ruth, and son, Edward Morris.
Ella Ruth is survived by her daughters, Jeanie Kerns and husband, Mike Kerns of Cleburne, Crystal Sparkman of Godley, son-in-law, Frederick M Brown of Blue Springs, MO; brother, George Williams and wife, Darlene Williams of Jacksboro, TX; sister, Nell Bailey of Van Alstyne TX; sister-in-law, LeAna Brown of Lake Worth TX; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren, one great-great granddaughter, many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
