A private service will be held at a later date for Rodney Allen Crawford, 69, of Cleburne, where he will be inurned in the Bostick family plot in the Sturdivant Cemetery, Mineral Wells, Texas. The family would like to extend a heart-felt thank you to the staff of Town Hall Estates for the care given to Rodney and the family, where he lived the last two years of his life before transferring to an assisted living facility in Arlington in June of 2025. (This was a goal of his that brought him great pride in accomplishing.)

Rodney Allen Crawford passed away on Wednesday, September 17, 2025 in Arlington, Texas. He was born on June 21, 1956 in Mineral Wells, Texas. Rodney grew up and attended school in Richardson, Texas, where he was best known as “Hot Rod”; however, most of his favorite memories were the times he spent at his grandparents’ farm (Bostick Farm) in Mineral Wells. Rodney moved to Cleburne in the summer of 1996 and joined the family of his Aunt Jo Ann Holly and her daughter, Becky Wilkin. Rodney reached his goal to own his own home, one of Johnson County’s Habitat for Humanity homes in 2001. He loved children, fishing, cooking, gardening and coloring. He wanted to connect with people more than anything, but some days he didn't even like people, but always disliked large crowds. He often said that although he stumbled in his efforts and words, that he always did the best he could do. In reflection – that is really all any of us can do. Rodney was a longtime member of the Westhill Church of Christ. He will be missed greatly by those who knew him best and loved him in all of his moments. Rodney is preceded in death by his parents, Paul Raines and Elvia Mildred Bostick Crawford; and siblings, Betty Carol Crawford Birchfield, Kenneth Paul Crawford, and Randal Claude Crawford.

Survivors include his cousin and longtime caregiver, Becky Wilkin and her children, Matt Wilkin & his wife, Angie Allen, and Amanda Waddell & her husband, Josh; Becky’s grandchildren, who he viewed more like his own grandchildren, Emma Wilkin, Amelia Waddell, and Adalyn Waddell; as well as other family and friends.
