A funeral service for Rodger Dale Mason, 79, of Rio Vista, will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, March 2, 2026, in the Crosier-Pearson Cleburne Funeral Home Chapel, located at 512 N. Ridgeway Dr., Cleburne, TX 76033, with Rev. Ken Coleman officiating. Interment will follow in the Rio Vista Cemetery, Rio Vista, Texas. There will be a time of visitation for family and friends from 1:00 – 2:00 PM at the funeral home prior to service.
Rodger Dale Mason, a beloved husband, devoted father, and cherished friend, passed away on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, in Fort Worth, Texas. Born on Tuesday, December 31, 1946, in McKinney, Texas, Rodger was known for his big personality, often described as "grumpy and lovable" by those who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Rodger dedicated many years of his life to serving others as a nurse and had a notable tenure as a medic in the Army. His compassion and dedication to helping others were also evident in his role as a Boy Scouts troop leader, where he guided and mentored many young boys, instilling in them the values of bravery and friendship.
Rodger is preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Juanita Mason; son, Staff Sergeant Johnnie Mason; brothers: Robert Mason, Thomas Mason, Donald "Ray" Mason, Johnny Mason, Jack Mason, David Mason, and James Mason; and sisters, Ida Mae Harmon, Jessie Harmon, Jean Chaney, Neva Atchley, and Vida McPherson.
As a firm yet loving father, he took great pride in his family. He is survived by his beloved wife of 36 years, Georgia Mason; their daughter, Norma Hawk, and her husband, Chris Bernal; granddaughter, Jasmin Reeves-Hawk, and her husband, Ethan; grandson, Senior Airman Christopher Bernal; siblings, Lonnie Mason, Lois Fynn, Ruth Bryant, and Mable Fuller; and his two precious pups, Scout and Ollie.
Rodger's love for his family, his passion for helping others, and his unwavering spirit will be remembered fondly by all who were fortunate enough to share in his life. His legacy will continue to inspire those who knew and loved him.
