A funeral service for Ricky Don Preuninger, 69, of Cleburne, will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, August 22, 2026, at South Park Baptist Church, located at 7201 Crowley Rd, Fort Worth, TX 76134, with Brother David Cook officiating. Interment will follow at 2:30 PM in the Sunset Cemetery, 371 US 287, Sunset, TX 76270 with Franklin Preuninger, Marcus Preuninger, Jason Mattix, Mark Mattix, Stephen Preuninger, Christopher Preuninger, and Corey Preuninger serving as pallbearers. There will be at time of visitation for family and friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM in the Crosier-Pearson Cleburne Funeral Home Chapel, located at 512 N Ridgeway Dr, Cleburne, TX 76033 on Friday, August 21, 2026.

Ricky Don Preuninger passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 16, 2026, in Fort Worth. He was born on October 18, 1956, in Bowie, Texas.

Ricky’s life was deeply rooted in his faith, which shaped his actions and guided his purpose. Having been saved in 1981, he dedicated much of his time to South Park Baptist Church, where he served as a Sunday school teacher, deacon, and the Faith Bible Institute Director. These roles reflected his boundless dedication to sharing his knowledge and faith with others, touching countless lives along the way.

A respected professional, Ricky spent 39 years as a Software Engineer at Lockheed Martin. His career exemplified diligence and technical expertise; he took great pride in his work and the friendships he forged with colleagues over the decades.

Ricky’s commitment to service didn’t stop at his workplace or church, it extended fully into his community. As Scout Master for Troops 35 and 215, he influenced generations of young minds, fostering strong values, the spirit of adventure, and a lifelong appreciation for learning. His enduring impact will long be remembered by those who had the privilege of his guidance and friendship.

In quieter moments, Ricky’s joy was found in simple pleasures and meaningful connections. He was a loving husband and father, and a proud, dedicated grandfather. He enjoyed capturing memories with his camera, treasured time spent at the theatre, and cherished evenings immersed in Hallmark Movies, especially at Christmas, romantic comedies, MASH, and Hogan's Heroes. Board games, crosswords, dominoes, and the classic game 42 filled his leisure hours, drawing friends and family together in laughter and spirited competition.

Above all, Ricky was known for his deep love of the Lord. His faith, kindness, and generosity defined him and continue to serve as an inspiration to those who knew and loved him. Ricky's enduring legacy is one of faith, love, and service. He will be deeply missed, cherished, and remembered by all whose lives he touched.

Ricky was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Edna Preuninger; brother, Delbert Preuninger; brother-in-law, Jarrod Willett; sister-in-law, April Sneath, and parents-in-law, Daniel and Rosemary Willett.

He is survived by his wife, Glynna Preuninger; son, Donald Preuninger & his wife, Melody; daughter, Maria Dean & her husband, Adam; ten grandchildren; brothers, Terry Preuninger & his wife, Trish and Jimmy Preuninger & his wife, Kathy; sisters-in-law, Brenda Preuninger, Gayla Mattix, and Maridan McLendon & her husband, James, and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
