Richard was a gifted musician who mastered five different instruments and shared his passion through writing music. His talent and love for music enriched the lives of all who had the pleasure of hearing him perform or work with him. Beyond his achievements in the arts, Richard served his country honorably as a member of the Air Force. As a proud veteran, he exemplified commitment and selflessness, qualities that he carried with him throughout his life. Richard's life was a blend of discipline and creativity, balancing the structure of military service with the boundless expression of music. These dual passions left a lasting impact on those who knew him and continue to inspire others. He will be remembered with deep respect for his service, his artistry, and the unique legacy he leaves behind.

He was preceded in death by his son, Steven Lowell Morton; parents, Willard Joel and Anna (Curry) Morton; brother, Nathan Morton; and sisters, Joanne Meredith and Willene Walker.

Richard is survived by his daughter, Ronda Morton; grandchildren, John Morton, Jessie Boatenhamer, Ashley Rodriguez & her husband, John, Leanne Bent Morton, and Blake Morton; great-grandchildren, Addison Rodriguez, Johnny James Boatenhamer, and Waylon Mark Boatenhamer.
