Nelda passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 12, 2025, surrounded by loved ones. She was born on August 13, 1940, in Slaton, Texas, to Herman and Vida (Guess) Black. On July 14, 1962, Nelda married the love of her life, Charles W. Parker Jr., in Lubbock, Texas. Together, they built a life filled with faith, family, and community.

A devoted member of First Baptist Church of El Paso, Nelda dedicated much of her life to serving others. She taught Sunday School, volunteered with Vacation Bible School, and led a crochet class that brought warmth and connection to her community. Her gentle spirit and giving nature touched the lives of many.

Nelda’s greatest joy was her family. She is lovingly remembered by her children, daughter Cynthia Ann Parker Minear and husband Daniel of Westminster, California and son Charles Winford Parker III and wife Dawn of Milford, Connecticut.

She cherished her role as grandmother to her nine beloved grandchildren: Talia, Kayli, Aidan, Jared, Riley, Katherine, Charles IV, Falyn, and Matthew. Nelda also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews who fondly remember her kindness and wisdom.

She is reunited in heaven with her husband Charles, her parents Herman and Vida, her sisters Wanda Elmore, Marie Elmore, and Francis Black, and her brothers William Herman Black, Kenneth Black, and James Black.
