Neddie Franklin Guthrie, Jr., "Grandpa", beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on February 21, 2026, in Cleburne. Born on March 2, 1949, in York, South Carolina, Neddie was a man of strength and integrity, who touched the lives of many during his remarkable journey.

Neddie served his country with honor and dedication in the Army for eight years, exemplifying the values of commitment and service to others. His loving nature and unwavering encouragement were hallmarks of his character; he was a steadfast source of support for his family and friends alike. Neddie often expressed his deep affection for his wife, Barbara Guthrie, stating, "there will never be another one like my wife." This sentiment reflects the profound love that he held for his family.

In his professional life, Neddie was a supervisor at Tree of Life, where he was respected by his peers for his work ethic and leadership. His dedication to his responsibilities was evident, and he was admired by those who had the privilege of working alongside him.

Neddie is survived by his cherished wife, Barbara Guthrie; his children, Franklin Guthrie, LaChele Guthrie, Damon Ellison, and Danielle Cuffy; and his grandchildren, Kadarius Davis, Milan Starr, DeKayla Starr, Larry Starr, Violet Lee, Maximus Guthrie, Daylan Ellison, Davirus Ellison, Jailon Ellison, Karina Gelacio, Kenyel Gelacio, Khyloe Perez, and Kylie Perez; his great-grandchildren, Zymir Davis, Kaiyas Davis, and Beni Jones; and bonus grandson, Little George. 

He is preceded in death by his parents, Neddie Franklin Guthrie, Sr. and Fannie Lawrence; and his brothers, Bobby Lawrence and Pete Lawrence. 

Neddie Franklin Guthrie, Jr. will be truly missed by all who knew him.
