Graveside services for Mildred Anne Bird, 80, lifelong resident of Cleburne, will be conducted at 10:30 A.M. Tuesday, July 30, 2013 in the China Creek Cemetery, Richland Springs, Texas. There will be an open visitation at the funeral home on Monday for friends wishing to pay final respects. In lieu of floral tributes, the family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society at www.cancer.org or the Alzheimer’s Association at www.alz.org .
Mildred passed away Friday, July 26, 2013 in Cleburne. She was born to Cecil D. and Eula Gladys Newby Sullivan on July 13, 1933 in Llano, Texas. She was of the Baptist faith. Mildred worked as a long haul truck driver for over 30 years and later was a caretaker of the elderly. It has been said that she was a busy lady, who loved her family. She enjoyed spending time with her grandson, cooking and gardening. She will be missed greatly by those who knew and loved her. Mildred is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Delvin Ray Portwood; and siblings, Cecil and Doris.
Survivors include her children, Lisa Portwood, Jason Portwood and his wife, Vanessa, and Kimberly Howard; 4 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; siblings, Virginia and James; sister in law, Janet; numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.
