Melissa Gayle (Baker) Quattlebaum passed away on Wednesday, October 21, 2026 in Decatur, Texas. She was born on May 12, 1950 in Fort Worth, Texas. Melissa married Larry Dean Quattlebaum on June 28, 2003 in Cleburne, Texas. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Ruth Chapter #20 and currently a member of the First Baptist Church of Boyd. She was a former member of North Cleburne Baptist Church, where she served as leader of the children’s ministry for a number of years as well as in other capacities. Melissa was a 1969 graduate of Cleburne High School and attended Texas Christian University.
Melissa was family-oriented, to say the least. Her family was the center of her world and “Grams” was her favorite title. Melissa was as sweet and loving as she was stubborn and onery, but always a giver of her time, talents, resources and her heart. She believed in keeping busy and used her creativity to sew, crochet, paint, and quilt. Melissa took pride in caring for her home, always welcoming those she loved. When she wasn’t at a family gathering or eating out with Larry, should could be found humming and cooking, curled up with a good book, or spending quiet, reflective hours studying her bible. She leaves a legacy rooted in strong faith, love of family and giving to others in the lives of those who were blessed to know her. Melissa’s quick wit and dry sense of humor will be missed and remembered fondly for years to come.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Estelle McMullin McKinzie; father, J.C. Baker, Jr.; son, Andy Quattlebaum; and brother, Raymond Baker.
Survivors include her husband, Larry Dean Quattlebaum; children and their spouses, Jessica Gyer Heaton (Tyson), Amber Gyer Jester (Stephen), and Bradley Quattlebaum (Lauren); daughter-in-law, Stacie Quattlebaum; grandchildren; Eva and Adalynn Heaton, Clareana, Scarlett and Rhett Jester, Logan, Samuel, Thackery and Eugene Quattlebaum, & Luke and Zach Quattlebaum; and a host of other relatives and friends.
