A graveside service for May (Schoonover) Davis, 95, of Cleburne, will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, May 11, 2026 in the Cleburne Memorial Park Cemetery located at 405 Waters Street, Cleburne, TX 76031 with Chaplain Mike Adams officiating. David Hayes, Randy Camp, Tommy Garrett, Eric Garrett, Tyler Rodriguez and Harlan Bennett will serve as pallbearers. There will be a time of visitation from 5:00 - 7:00 PM at Crosier-Pearson Cleburne Funeral Home, located at 512 N Ridgeway Drive in Cleburne, Texas on Sunday, May 10, 2026.
May Davis, a beloved and spirited woman known for her strength, warmth, and unwavering dedication to her family, passed away on May 7, 2026, in Cleburne, Texas. Born on October 2, 1930, in Gray County, Texas, she embodied the true spirit of a "tough country girl," embracing life with a robust enthusiasm for nature and a tireless work ethic.
May was a remarkable individual who found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She was passionate about fishing and spent countless hours immersed in the natural world she so dearly loved. A self-proclaimed "Rock Hound," she delighted in searching for interesting rocks and shells, cherishing each unique find with admiration. Her collection of porcelain dolls reflected her gentle side, while her willingness to get her hands dirty demonstrated her resilience and readiness to meet any challenge head-on.
Throughout her life, May worked alongside her devoted husband, Harlan Jackson Davis, sharing both the trials and triumphs of their years together. She was an incredible cook, renowned for her culinary skills, and remained highly active, always whistling a tune and making sure those around her were cared for and supported. May’s legacy is deeply rooted in her role as a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.
May was preceded in death by her husband, Harlan Jackson Davis; daughter, Glenda Garrett; granddaughter, Ladonna Michelle Hayes; parents, Frank and Alice Schoonover; six brothers and two sisters.
She is survived by her children, Donna Trussell and Opal Davis; her grandchildren, David Hayes, Tommy Garrett, Eric Garrett & his wife Penny, Misty Bennett & her husband Brandon, and Avinell Ray & her husband Zane Kohler; great-grandchildren Randy, Jessica, Austin, Meaghan, Charlotte, Mersedes, and Harlan; sister, Alice Faye Jordan, numerous great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
May Davis leaves behind a rich tapestry of love, resilience, and devotion. Her remarkable life story, marked by unwavering determination and boundless care for her family, will forever remain a guiding light for those who were fortunate enough to know her.
