Ridgeway Dr., Cleburne, TX 76033 on Thursday, October 23, 2025.

Marvin Lawrence Gilreath was born on February 9, 1938, in Dallas, TX. He worked as an Electrician and was a member of the IBEW for 50 years. He trained horses for many years afterward, where he made many loyal friends. In 1999, when they moved to Lipan, Brother Danny Shearman led him to receive Jesus as his Savior. He was baptized in the First Baptist Church of Dennis that year.

He was known to be a practical joker who always had a quick-witted line to make us laugh! He adored his animals, having hosted many horses, cats, and dogs over a full and fun lifetime. They brought him great joy, a trait he shared with the love of his life, Sandy.

Marvin married Sandra Jeanne Winfrey on March 5, 1961. His devotion to his family was only barely topped by his devotion to her. He made sure to mention his love for her to his children and grandchildren often. You rarely saw one without the other. Theirs was a love story made of both compassion and passionate love for each other. Our parents modeled unconditional love for us all of our lives. No matter what, family was first. Our days as children were spent in simple pleasures of family dinners at our relatives houses or picnics in local parks. We shared laughs at the local swimming pool where he taught us to swim, the lake where he taught us to ski; and then the arena where he taught us to ride horses. Our days as adults were also centered around family dinners, birthday or holiday celebrations, where we all gathered. Our tradition is to hold hands in a circle before meals and thank God each time for His provision and for the ever-expanding circle of family. We are proud of the children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren their love produced. As Mom wisely stated, “We are all connected with love from God and from Jesus our Savior.”

Marvin’s soul was called to be with God on Sunday, October 19, 2025. There he joyfully waits in the presence of Him for Jesus’s triumphant Return. (1Cor 15:19-26).

Their children are Debbie Bracey (David), Pam Curry (Gerald), Greg Gilreath (Julie), and Mindy Cobb (Mark).

Grandchildren are Michael Bridges, Jason Curry (Erika), Jill Grigar (Ian), Justin Walker, Jennifer Hawkins (Brad), Courtney Robinson (Steven), Tyler Gilreath (Jessica), Kacie Gilreath, Cameron Gilreath, and Cassie Cobb.

Great-grands include Natalie and Faryn Marina, Hank and Charlie Curry. Braden and Madelyn Grigar. Noah Williams and Jaxon Hawkins. Carson, Cooper, and Collins Robinson. Abigail and Henry Gilreath.

These are the loves of their lives! Marvin was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin Clyde Gilreath and Wanda Rowe Gilreath, and his sister Deidre Holloway.

Gramps, we will miss your long stories and your quick wit! We will always love you.
