Martha Baugh

Funeral services for Martha Baugh, 75, of Glen Rose, Texas, will be held at 10:00 AM Wednesday, July 29, 2026 in the Calvary Baptist Church, located at 700 Woodard Avenue, Cleburne, Texas 76033 with Rev. Charles Payne officiating and Rev. Brooks Monk assisting. Interment will follow in the Lanham Mill Cemetery, located on FM 205, Glen Rose, Texas. There will be a time of visitation and fellowship for family and friends to gather at Crosier-Pearson Cleburne Funeral Home's Chapel, located at 512 N. Ridgeway Dr., Cleburne, Texas 76033 on Tuesday, July 28, 2026 from 6:00-8:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Calvary Baptist Church in Cleburne Texas or the Creation Evidence Museum in Glen Rose Texas.

Martha Sue Chambers Baugh, the third child of parents Ecta and Nancy Weems Chambers, was born in Palestine Texas on February 17, 1951. When she was one year old, her family moved to Temple, Texas where she grew up. She attended public schools through 12th grade and was an honor student. Martha enjoyed being a Brownie Scout as a young girl and a Pepperette in Temple High School. She graduated with the Class of 1969. She graduated from Temple Junior College with an Associate of Arts degree in 1971. Martha also attended Texas Women's College and Baylor University, studying speech therapy. She was a member of Memorial Baptist Church, faithfully attending Sunday School and volunteering with Vacation Bible School and mission activities.

In 1985, she married Carl Baugh, who had established the Creation Evidence Museum in Glen Rose, Texas. She became his primary assistant and inspiration in the original growth and ongoing development of the museum. This development, including the discovery of actual dinosaur fossils and an international application of the creation model.

Martha was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Cleburne, Texas, and sang in the choir often as well as preparing inspirational and instructional material for vacation Bible schools.

She was pre-deceased by both parents, her older brother, Charles Chambers of Dallas and younger brother, Robert Chambers of Temple; niece, Margo Chambers of Dallas; one great-nephew, Sterling Chambers of Plano; stepson, Carl Edward Baugh, Jr. and grandson, Taylor Baugh, both of Springfield, Missouri. 

Survivors include her husband Carl E. Baugh of Glen Rose; children Matthew DeFord and spouse, Micaela of Rockwall and Laura Watts and spouse, Collier Lumpkin of Kernersville, North Carolina; four grandchildren -- Jackson, Hudson, Riley and Lincoln; sisters, Donna Plank and Janette Chambers, both of Temple; three nephews -- Marcus Chambers, James Plank and Ben Plank, several great nieces, nephews, numerous cousins and one sister-in-law, Rona Chambers of Dallas.
