A graveside service for Marshall "Shane" Hicks, 73, of Hillsboro, will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, in the Greenacres Memorial Park Cemetery with Reverend Kenneth Coleman officiating. There will be a time of visitation for family and friends from 9:00 -10:00 AM in the Greenacres Memorial Park Mausoleum prior to the service.

Marshall “Shane” Hicks went to be with our Lord & Savior on September 1, 2026, surrounded by his kids in Hillsboro. He was born on August 24, 1953, in Fort Worth, Texas.

Shane built a life marked by hard work, learning, and deep personal pride in the things he loved most. He worked as both a farmer and a teacher, bringing dedication to each role. He held a master’s degree, an accomplishment that reflected his commitment to his personal growth, and one he counted among his proud achievements. Farming remained close to his heart throughout his life. He took great pride in and loved his farm, and he especially enjoyed working with his cows and dogs.

Among the accomplishments that meant the most to him were his two children, Derek Hicks and Kamila Hicks, of whom he was especially proud. Their place in his life was a source of joy and lasting meaning. He was also known for the love and admiration he held for his grandparents, uncles, and other family members, whom he loved dearly and often talked about.

Family and friends will remember Shane as a man who valued both education and the farming life, and who spoke warmly and often of the people and work that mattered most to him. His memory will live on in the lives he touched through his work, his conversations, and the pride he carried for his family and his farm.

Shane is preceded in death by his parents, Marshall Hicks & Hazel Clark Hicks; grandparents, and numerous other family members.

He is survived by his son, Derek Hicks, and his daughter, Kamila Hicks.
