A memorial service for Louise Hay, of Cleburne, will be held at 1:00 P.M., Saturday, October 19, 2024, at United Presbyterian Church in Cleburne with Reverend Charles Somervill officiating.
Louise passed away at home on Saturday, September 28, 2024, at the age of 92 surrounded by her family. Louise was born in Dearlock, Ontario Canada on May 31, 1932, to Robert and Bernice Morford. Louise resided in Cleburne, Texas. Louise moved to the United States when she was six years old and lived in Bismarck, North Dakota until she was 12 years old. Their family moved to Elbowoods, North Dakota where Louise finished her schooling on the Indian Reservation. In 1952 she married John Hay of Parshall, North Dakota where they worked on his father's farm. John and Louise moved to Topeka, Kansas where John was employed by Santa Fe Railroad for 32 years. They raised their family in Silver Lake, Kansas. Louise was a wonderful homemaker, seamstress, volunteer, and worked part-time at the school and local grocery store. John and Louise lived an adventurous life, living full time in a motorhome traveling around the country. Family was everything to Louise. During her life, Louise and John attended all their children’s sporting events, followed by their grandchildren, and continued with great-grandchildren. She loved to fish as much as John. She was a member of the United Presbyterian Church, Cleburne, Texas and helped in preparing meals for activities at the church. She was a woman of deep faith, and she knew where she was going. Over the past year since John’s passing, she couldn’t wait to go be with him.
She is survived by her sister, Lorraine (Boyd) Parker, Stafford, Texas; son, Dan (Jan) Hay, Topeka, Kansas; daughter, Debbie (James) Kirby, Bessemer, Alabama; son, Terry (Karen) Hay, Willow Park, Texas and daughter, Kathy McFadden, Annapolis, Maryland.
