Laverne Boyd

A memorial service for Laverne Boyd, 92, of Crowley, will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, March 7, 2026, in the Crosier-Pearson Cleburne Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain Eddy Carroll officiating. There will be a time of visitation for family and friends from 5:00-7:00 PM at the funeral home on Friday, March 6, 2026.

Rosie Laverne Boyd, 92, of Crowley, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 13, 2026, surrounded by her loved ones. Laverne was born on August 28,1933, to Troy and Vera Bridges. She married Johnnie Boyd on August 12,1995. He was the love of her life.

Laverne was a devoted mother to five beautiful children, and one stepson. She loved cooking and baking for others. In her spare time, she played cards, wahoo and her hand-held game. Over the years she has been given many names to her by her grandchildren. She was known as Granny, Grandma, MeeMo, Granny Grunt and Cookie Granny. You would never catch her without her game in her hand. She loved family gatherings and was the life of the party. She never met a stranger, and everyone was welcome. We all will have many memories that we will cherish forever.

She was proceeded in death by her husband, Johnnie Boyd; her children, Cindy Abshire and Michael Abshire; the father of her children, Ralph Abshire; parents, Troy and Vera Bridges; her siblings; Marie Malugen, Irene Winegarner, Troy Abshire and Glenda Wade Grandsons; Jeremy Smith, Keith Sheffield, and DJ Smith; sons-in-law; Donald Smith, Wayne Vaughn, Mocus Fowler, and James Henninger; her daughter-in-law; Fay Upchurch; and her beloved fur baby Peanut.

Laverne is survived by her children Anita Fowler, Becky Vaughn, Patty Henninger, and Jimmy Abshire; her grandchildren; Kenny Sheffield and wife Tabatha, Kevin Sheffield, Jeanna Story, Mindy Upchurch-Fuller, Brad Fowler and wife Misty, Randy Fowler, Scott Fowler and wife Jamey, Diana Boy and husband Brad, Stacy Jarvis and husband Damon, Danny Smith, Katrina Bowersox and partner Kevin, Tammy Abshire, Jeanie Briers and husband Thomas, Kristie Gathright, Misty Brown and husband Rex, and Randy Abshire; 33 great grandchildren and 38 great-great grandchildren.
