Joseph Landis

Joseph Ralph Landis went to be with the Lord on July 26th, 2022 at the age of 67.

Joe is survived by his loving wife Glena. An amazing dad to Whitney Wardrip, Christina Bailey, Michael Stallons, and the best grandfather to his grandchildren Georgia, Violet, Elizabeth, Ashlyn, Zane, Kaitlyn, Anna, London, and Paisley. He is also survived by his brother Lary Landis, sister Peggy Whatley, brother-in-law Marion Whatley, Sister-in-law Debbi Carroll, niece Jennifer Willis, nephew Larry Landis JR. and other relatives.

Joe was born in Rochelle, Illinois on November 10, 1954 to Gladys McCann and Ralph Landis. Joe had many adventures from growing up on a dairy farm in Illinois to working on a riverboat on the Mississippi River to traveling the country in his 18-wheeler. When he retired he enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening and learning the piano.

Joe loved to take his loved ones on the boat to fish, and was known as the “Catfish Whisperer”. He loved the outdoors, and loved to hunt. Joe was the kind of man that if a friend or family needed anything he would jump in to help. Joe was a kind, loving, giving man with a great sense of humor. He was also known for his gardening skills, and was the person to go to for fresh tomatoes. It was important to Joe to live every day to the fullest, and spend his days with the ones he loved. He loved playing with his granddaughters whether it be reading a book, playing dress up, or flying a kite he enjoyed spending time with them. He would always say that we were “making memories”. I know that we have all made memories with him that we will keep forever.

There will not be a funeral, but the family will have a celebration this fall. Information will be announced at a later date.
