A graveside service for John D. Johnson, 85, of Cleburne, will be held at 3:00 PM on Friday, December 19, 2025, in the Bono Cemetery located at 500 FM2331, Bono, TX 76044 with Pastor John Tanner officiating. There will be a time of visitation for family and friends from 6:00 - 8:00 PM on Thursday, December 18, 2025, at Crosier-Pearson Cleburne Funeral Home, located at 512 N Ridgeway Dr, Cleburne, TX 76033.

John D. Johnson, born on November 10, 1940, in Cleburne, Texas, passed away peacefully on December 14, 2025, in his home. He was a pillar of strength and love for his family and community, leaving behind a legacy that will be cherished by all who knew him.

John D. dedicated his life to his family and his passions. He married the love of his life, Darla Johnson, on June 10, 1961, and together they raised a beautiful family. John D. served as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

John D. was a devoted member of his community and the Bono Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon. He had a passion for helping others. John D. played a significant role in helping to establish the Cleburne Baseball Association, fostering a love for the game among many young athletes and was actively involved in youth sports as an umpire and coach.

A retired railroad carman, John D. dedicated 30 years of service to his profession, a testament to his strong work ethic and commitment. In his leisure time, he enjoyed the great outdoors, with a particular fondness for hunting and fishing—activities that provided him solace and joy.

John D. was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Darla Johnson; his son, Jimmy Johnson; his father, J.C. Johnson; and his mother, Iva Brand.

He is survived by his daughter, Shari Kennedy and her husband Jeff; His daughter-in-law, Tammy Johnson-Mayo; His grandchildren, Brittany Taylor and her husband Dustin, John Remington Johnson-Mayo and his wife Ashley, Jacob Kennedy and his wife Amber, Kendall Norris and her husband Rodney, and Texas Mayo and his wife Tatianna; Great-grandchildren, Kenzie, Cash, Kambrie, Maverick, and Kolbie Taylor, along with a host of relatives and friends.

John D. Johnson’s legacy of love, service, and commitment to family will live on in the hearts of those who knew him. His spirit, marked by passion and dedication, will be a guiding light to his family and friends for years to come.
