Jimmy Doty passed away peacefully on July 30, 2026, in Cleburne. He was born on May 6, 1936, in Blum.
Jimmy devoted 36 remarkable years of his professional life to General Dynamics, where he forged many lasting friendships and made significant contributions to the organization. His commitment to his work reflected the steadfastness and dedication that marked all aspects of his life.
Beyond his career, Jimmy was a familiar and beloved presence in his community. He was often seen at R&K, his favorite local restaurant, where he enjoyed good meals and better company. His natural gift for connection meant that he was rarely ever a stranger. Jimmy always had a joke at the ready, a playful nickname for everyone, and an infectious smile under one of his many “goofy” hats. Those hats, much like Jimmy’s humor, became part of his endearing signature.
Throughout his life, Jimmy was known and cherished for his unwavering sense of humor, his devotion to his family and faith, and the warmth he extended to all who knew him. A true enthusiast of garage sales, Jimmy appreciated the character and stories behind simple treasures. His lighthearted nature brought joy and laughter to those around him, turning even everyday errands into memorable adventures.
Deeply rooted in his faith, Jimmy never missed church; his devotion was a guiding light for his loved ones and an example to his community. He was a loving husband and father, someone whose affection, wisdom, and bright spirit left an indelible mark on his family’s life.
As we remember Jimmy Doty, we honor a life filled with love, laughter, and unwavering faith. His memory lives on in the countless lives he touched, in every warm greeting, every hearty laugh, and every fond recollection of a man who truly knew how to brighten the world around him.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Carleton (Alexander) Doty; wife of 56 years, Dorothy "Dot" (Kinman) Doty; daughter, Delia Cogburn; brother, Bubba Doty and sisters, Delores Jones and Wanda Knight.
