Jimmie Ruth Boyd passed away peacefully on the morning of July 25, 2025, at the age of 95. Born on August 26, 1929, in Erick, Oklahoma, she was one of ten children born to Hafford Riley Hamilton and Odessa Mae Harkins Hamilton.
Jimmie Ruth was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. She married the love of her life, Clyde Aaron Boyd, on December 21, 1946. Together they built a life rooted in faith, family, and service. They were blessed with two children, Rebecca Ruth Boyd and Clyde Wesley Boyd. Jimmie Ruth was affectionately known as “Nena” to her grandchildren — Ashley Melissa Aaron and her husband Daman Aaron, and William Wesley Boyd — and to her great-granddaughter, Sloane Alyssa Aaron. She and Clyde were their biggest supporters, never missing a moment — from Ashley's dance recitals to every single one of Will’s baseball and basketball games.
Though she earned her license as a beautician, Jimmie Ruth ultimately followed a different professional path. After moving to Fort Worth, she began working at Montgomery Ward, where she remained for many years until her retirement. Never one to slow down, she later served as the bookkeeper for the Cleburne Livestock Auction, which she and Clyde owned and operated together. Her talent for bookkeeping was unmatched—Jimmie Ruth had a sharp mind for numbers and an incredible attention to detail. She was known for balancing the books down to the penny and often joked that she should’ve been an accountant. There was truly no one better.
Her heart for serving others was evident throughout her life. She found great joy in caring for those around her—baking cakes, delivering casseroles to church members, and making cookies for school parties. She faithfully supported Clyde and his friends on domino nights with homemade desserts and gave generously of her time and talents to her family, friends, and church community. Jimmie Ruth and Clyde were also gracious givers and longtime supporters of the Children’s Advocacy Center in Cleburne, Texas—a cause dear to their hearts.
Jimmie Ruth and Clyde began attending Fort Worth First Church of the Nazarene in the early 1950s after moving to Fort Worth. Their commitment to their church family spanned generations and locations. As the church transitioned to Crowley Church of the Nazarene and later became Generations Church of the Nazarene in 2022, Jimmie Ruth remained a steadfast and faithful member. Her quiet acts of service and unwavering faith left a lasting impact on her church family.
Jimmie Ruth also had a deep love for sports that started early in life. She played basketball growing up in Oklahoma and continued to follow sports passionately throughout her life. She and Clyde were loyal fans of the Texas Rangers, Dallas Mavericks, Fort Worth Cats, and of course, the Dallas Cowboys. Their home was rarely without a game playing, and watching sports together became one of their most cherished shared pastimes.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Boyd; her daughter, Rebecca Ruth Boyd; her parents, Hafford Riley Hamilton and Odessa Mae Harkins Hamilton; and her siblings, Juanita June Hamilton Tramel, Betty Lou Hamilton Nippert, Bobby Gene Hamilton, Riley Franklin Hamilton, and Albert Wayne Hamilton.
She is survived by her son, Clyde Wesley Boyd and his wife, Joan Boyd; her grandchildren, Ashley Melissa Aaron and her husband Daman Aaron, and William Wesley Boyd; her great- granddaughter, Sloane Alyssa Aaron; and her loving siblings, Arliegh Jerome Hamilton, Thelma Mae Hamilton Pender, Nina Sue Turner, and Sherri Kay Hamilton Govett. She is also lovingly remembered by her many nieces and nephews, who cherished her deeply.
Jimmie Ruth was also a proud tribal member of the Choctaw Nation, a heritage that was deeply meaningful to her. Her mother ensured that all her children’s documentation was in order, and Jimmie carried that legacy forward with pride. She first made sure that her children, Wesley and Rebecca, were registered with the Choctaw Nation, and later ensured that her grandchildren and great-granddaughter were also enrolled. Her Native heritage was something she honored, celebrated, and made certain would be passed on to future generations.
Jimmie Ruth leaves behind a legacy of faith, kindness, generosity, and service that will live on in all who knew her.
