Jerry Roberts

On Friday, November 18, 2022, Jerry “J.J” Jerome Roberts, loving husband and father of two, passed away at the age of 76. J.J. was born November 23, 1945 in Fort Worth, TX to Dorothy Dee (Vaughn) and Frank Oliver Roberts. J.J. loved his country and was a U.S. Navy veteran, having served his country on the USS Everett F. Larson during the Vietnam Era. On September 17, 1965, J.J. married Kathryn Mears in Cleburne, TX. They raised two children, Jeff & Jennifer. He worked as a Quality Assurance Supervisor for General Dynamics and retired from Lockheed Martin after over 30 years service. J.J. had a great sense of humor, enjoyed spending time with family, and participating in numerous activities like playing baseball, working on old cars, and hunting & fishing. J.J. was known for his quick wit, good attitude, and lifting others up with his compassion, patience, and humor. His dogs also brought him great joy and he loved to include them in when going to the lake and camping. J.J.’s deep love of baseball was established at an early age when his father created the first little league in Fort Worth. Baseball continued to be a huge part of J.J’s life as he played at Glenrose high school and on recreational work teams; continuing to play well into his retirement with the Lockheed retiree team. He was a skilled wood worker and classic car enthusiast. He loved making woodwork items for friends and family and sharing his knowledge with others to develop their talents. Jerry is preceded in death by his wife of 55 years at the time of her passing in 2021; parents; siblings, Herbert Roberts, David (J.D.) Roberts, Frank Roberts and Frances Moses as well as brother & sister-in-laws; Bill & Delta Schad, Visie Scarberry, Arthur & Norma Lou Mears, Walter & Jan Mears, Sid & Lavada Moore. He is survived by son, Jeff Roberts and his wife, Imelda; daughter, Jennifer Villaire and her husband, Sean; grandchildren, Alison Villaire, Seth Roberts, Katelyn Roberts, Evan Villaire and Elijah Roberts; great-grandchild, Remington Newton; siblings Daisy Dowdy and her husband, Darrell and Demetria Severs, brothers-in-law, Wando Scarberry and Jesse Mears as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
Graveside service for Jerry Jerome “J.J.” Roberts, 76, of Burleson, TX, will be conducted on Sunday, November 27, 2022 at 2:00 PM in the Godley Cemetery with Elder Barry Gee officiating. There will be an open visitation time for friends and family to pay respects and sign the register book from 9:00 A.M. - 5:00 P.M. on Saturday, November 26, 2022 at Crosier-Pearson Cleburne Funeral Home. In lieu of floral tributes, the family asks that the giver take a child or elderly person from your local Christmas Tree Angel program in honor of J.J.’s memory.
