Jeanne Covington passed away July 5, 2013 in Kingsland. She was born October 1, 1922 in Godley to Lyle Dalton and Edna Mae Garrett. Jeanne attended high school in Godley and graduated as Salutatorian in 1940. In 1941 she married her sweetheart, Otis Covington. They celebrated the birth of their only child, James, in 1945. Otis and Jeanne were married for 52 years.

Jeanne was a banker with the First Financial Bank in Cleburne and was a friendly face to thousands for 32 years in that role. She was an active member of Field Street Baptist Church and especially loved her Sunday School Class and its members, her dear friends and church family. Jeanne was also a faithful member to her Beta Sigma Phi sorority and her sister members.

Jeanne was known for several specific things in her home community. In times of need, Jeanne could always be counted on to help others, whether physically, emotionally or even financially, she was always willing to assist.

Jeanne spent the last three years of her life in Kingsland, living next door to her son, James and his wife Janci. Jeanne is also survived by her beloved grandchildren, Sundee Hinson in Mansfield, Jason Covington and wife Amy in Nashville, TN, Jason Chambers and wife Tara in Ft. Worth and Eric Chambers in Kingsland; her loving great grandchildren, Logan, Megan and Morgan Hinson, Chaz Covington, Eli McCorkle and Jacob and Nathan Chambers. She was preceded in death by her parents; beloved husband, Otis Covington and two brothers, L.D. Garrett and Bill Garrett.

Jeanne touched the lives of so many in so many special ways. She will be sorely missed by those of us here on Earth, but we know she will be watching out for us from the beauty of Heaven, where there is no more pain or confusion.
