Janie Lee (Nickell) Jones

A funeral service for Janie Lee (Nickell) Jones, 85, of Godley, will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, March 16, 2026, in the Crosier-Pearson Cleburne Funeral Home Chapel located at 512 N. Ridgeway Dr., Cleburne, Texas 76033, with Reverend Ken Coleman officiating. Interment will follow in the Rosehill Cemetery, Cleburne. There will be a time of visitation for family and friends from 3:00-5:00 PM at the funeral home on Sunday, March 15, 2026.

Janie Lee (Nickell) Jones passed away peacefully on March 8, 2026, in Godley, Texas. Born on November 14, 1940, in Cleburne, Texas, she touched many lives through her warmth, generosity, and bright spirit.

Janie led a rich and fulfilling life marked by her dedication to family and a career that spanned over 70 years. She spent more than 50 years in banking and an additional 20 years in data processing, leaving a lasting impact on those who had the privilege of working with her. Her commitment to her profession was matched only by her love for family gatherings, where she cherished time spent with her loved ones.

Her passions included a love for birds, frequent visits to the casino, and unwavering support for the Texas Rangers baseball team. Janie's giving nature shone brightly; she consistently put others before herself, earning the admiration and gratitude of everyone who knew her.

Janie was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Lea Jones, and her parents, Lester Lee Nickell and Thelma Jane Peay; and her son, Bobby Jones. She is survived by her son, Jimmy Jones, and his wife Amy, her daughter, Cindy Smith, and her husband Dean; her grandchildren, Danielle Thomas and her husband Dereck, Patrick Jones and his wife Paula, Garrett Smith, Cady Smith, Jaden Smith, and Nicole Jones; her great-grandchildren, Avery Thomas, Graham Thomas, Callum Smith, and Sutton Smith; her sisters, Lanelle Allen and Shirley Doty and husband Wyndlon.

Janie’s presence will be profoundly missed, and her memory will be cherished by all who had the joy of knowing her.
