James Thomas Speer

Service for James “Thomas” Speer, 93, of Cleburne will be conducted at 10:00 A.M., Friday, July 12, 2024 in the Crosier-Pearson Cleburne Chapel. Burial will follow in Rosehill Cemetery in Cleburne. Visitation will be 6-8:00 P.M., Thursday, July 11, 2024, at the funeral home.

 James passed away Monday, July 8, 2024 in Cleburne. He was born February 27, 1931 in Cleburne. James was a member of First Missionary Baptist Church. James loved being and working outside. He enjoyed working in his garden and going camping. James was a wonderful care giver to his wife for many years.

 James is survived by his children, Deborah Louise Speer Rice, Gary Thomas Speer, John Henry Speer; grandchildren, Roy Rice, Robin Rice Hardin, Sarah Speer, Jennifer Speer, Sandra Speer, John Henry Speer III; 16 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great-grandchildren and 3 nieces.

 James is preceded in death by his wife of 73 years, Emogene Speer; father, John Henry Speer; mother, Ruby Black Speer Ogden; sister, Faye Thompson; brother, Weldon Speer; son, James Wyndell Speer; grandsons, Gary Thomas “Butter” Speer Jr. and Christopher Michael Speer.
