James "Jim" Elder

James Gordon Elder, beloved son, brother, uncle and friend passed away June 16, 2024. James, 64, of Burleson was born March 5, 1960 in Cleburne, Texas to John David and Sylvia Virginia (Navarro) Elder.

 James worked for Johns Manville for 30 years. He had a true soft spot for stray dogs and went out of his way to rescue them. James loved motorcycles and boxing. He enjoyed catfishing and running a jug line. His hearty laugh and kind heart brought goodness into our lives.

 James is survived by his father, John Elder; sisters, Kelly Elder and Tracy Haferkamp and husband, Michael; nieces and nephews, Lindsay Trotter, Mark De La Garza, Nikki Woods, Mindy Davis and Jacob, Haley Woods, Jacob Woods and Susie, Rachel Hudson and Wyatt and 9 great nieces and nephews and his best friend, Mitchell Wilson.

 James is preceded in death by his mother, Sylvia Elder and grandparents, Leo “Big Daddy” Navarro, Virginia “Big Mama” Navarro, James “Papa” Elder and Betty “Memaw” Elder.

Graveside service will be held 10:00 am, Tuesday, July 9, 2024, at the Grandview Cemetery Pavillion.
