Funeral services for Jack Hugh Barnes, 99, of Richland Hills, Texas, will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, June 14, 2022 in the Friendship Baptist Church, Hurst, Texas. There will be a time of visitation prior to the service, starting at 10:30 AM for family and friends wishing to pay their respects. Graveside will follow in the Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery at 2:15PM on Tuesday, June 14, 2022 as well.

Jack Hugh Barnes passed away at his home on Tuesday, May 31, 2022 in Richland Hills, Texas. He was born the son of John Hugh and Pearl Teague Barnes on October 19, 1922 in Cisco, Texas. Jack married Bobbie Jean Casey on April 4, 1953 in Fort Worth. They were married 51 years at the time of her death in 2004. He retired at the age of 76 from a long and vast career as a long-haul truckdriver. Jack truly loved driving and could tell many stories about the trips and people he met along his journeys. Jack was a "people person" and great story-teller. He married Ruth Merritt on November 1, 2008 in Hurst, Texas. They were members of Friendship Baptist Church, where Jack served in any way he could. One of his fondest memories was of the trip he took with the church to Israel. Jack was a fun-loving and active man, even playing church softball up until 2001. He enjoyed fishing and the many family trips to Galveston. He appreciated the small, but great moments in life; most likely from his poor upbringing. Jack leaves a legacy of strong faith, love of family and working hard to those who knew him best. He will be missed greatly. Jack was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Bobbie; and siblings, Homer Barnes, Juanita Wallace, Alene McNiel, and Colene Edwards and half brother, Kenneth Barnes.

Survivors include his wife of almost 14 years, Ruth Barnes; children, Sandra Marrs and her husband, Rickey, Sherry Watkins, and Jay Barnes; grandchildren, Misty Madison and her husband, Chad, Brittany Banks and her husband, Gregg, Crystal Pyron and her husband, Josh, and Lori Hinton; 10 great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
