A funeral service for Harold D. Werning, 90, of Cleburne will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, August 10, 2025 in the Crosier-Pearson Cleburne Funeral Home Chapel, located at 512 N. Ridgeway Dr., Cleburne, TX 76033. Interment will follow in Keene Memorial Park Cemetery with Bruce Muse, Weston Muse, Dustin Muse, Ben Yake, Tyler Raby, Carlisle Bower serving as pallbearers. There will be a time of visitation for family and friends from 5:00-7:00 PM at the funeral home on Saturday, August 9, 2025.

Harold D. Werning, a dedicated and loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on August 1, 2025. Born on May 30, 1935, in Kaufman, Texas, he spent his life embodying the values of hard work, integrity, and service to others.

Harold was not only a devoted family man but also a person who lived life to the fullest. He was a passionate bodybuilder, showcasing his commitment to physical fitness throughout his life. His love for sports extended to recreational baseball, where he enjoyed pitching while fostering friendships with teammates. A remarkable skater, Harold met his beloved wife, Mary Ellen Werning, during one of those joyful moments on wheels. The couple shared a harmonious marriage that lasted for 65 wonderful years.

He was known for his detail-oriented nature and strong leadership qualities, making him a respected figure among his peers. Harold's service in the Army as a Sharpshooter further emphasized his dedication and discipline. Throughout his life, he remained devoted to his church, exemplifying compassion and integrity in every endeavor.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Amos and Willie Dee Werning, and sisters, Betty Jean Laws and Troy Marie Behn.

Harold is survived by his wife, Mary Ellen; daughters Rebekah Ann Yake and Melanie Lynn Muse and husband Bruce; grandchildren Weston Allen Muse, Dustin Scott Muse, Aundrea Brooke Raby, Benjamin Adam Yake; and great-grandchildren Sawyer Rose Raby, Korbin West Raby, Scarlett Ryan Raby, Lincoln William Muse, and McKinley Lorraine Muse; brother, Walter Alvin Werning and a host of other relatives and friends.

Harold D. Werning leaves behind a legacy of faith, kindness, generosity and service that will live on in all who knew him.
