Gary Benjamin passed away on Sunday, October 4, 2026 in Burleson, Texas. He was born on March 18, 1962 in Woodward, Oklahoma. Gary married the love of his life, Tammy Kay (Littlepage) Benjamin on September 30, 2017 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Gary loved drumming and country music, and he carried that passion into his time as the drummer for the Cowboys Blues Band, following in his father’s footsteps. He was always proud of his dad, Jim, who is in the Texas Music Hall of Fame for his work as a drummer for Bob Wills and The Texas Playboys. Music was an important part of Gary’s life, and he found great meaning in being connected to that legacy. Gary was also a member of the Cowtown Society of Western Music and enjoyed his time as part of that community. His talents and enthusiasm for the things he loved made a lasting impression on those who knew him.

Beyond music, Gary enjoyed many interests that reflected his curiosity and appreciation for craftsmanship and beauty. He had a special place in his heart for his ’69 Chevy Camaro and took pleasure in collecting coins, steins, rocks, and gemstones. He was a gifted artist who enjoyed drawing and painting, expressing himself through his own creativity. Fishing was another pastime he loved, offering him time to relax and enjoy life in a simple, meaningful way. Gary will be remembered as a man with a lasting love for music, art and his family & friends.

Gary is preceded in death by his parents, Jim & Marie Benjamin; nephew, Justin Rightmer; and great-nephew, Charlie Settles.

He is survived by his loving wife, Tammy Benjamin; daughter, Amber Miles & her husband, Ryan; sons, Justin Griffin and Cameron Griffin; grandchildren, Kohen Miles and Aisley Miles; siblings, Teresa Benjamin Harrison, Larry Benjamin, and Frank Benjamin & wife, Angelia; nieces, Jamie Nicole Jackson, Rhonda Rightmer & husband, Taylor Rios, Lauren Sallee & husband, Brandon; nephew, Justen Benjamin & his wife, Mariah; and many other friends and relatives.
