Ermine Lee Miller passed away on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, in Rio Vista. He was born on January 17, 1943, in Archer City, Texas.
Mr. Miller lived a life marked by hard work, loyalty, and deep conviction. He was patriotic and loved his country, carrying that devotion from a young age. At just 17 years old, he joined the United States Army with his parents’ signature and served from 1961 to 1963. During his military years, he was a paratrooper with the 101st Airborne at Fort Campbell, Kentucky, and boxed while in the service. Even as a teenager in uniform, he showed his character by sending his military paycheck home to help support his family.
After his military service, he married the love of his life, Jerrie Winnette Clark, beginning a marriage that spanned 62 and a half years. Through the years, Ermine built his life around work, family, and the values he held dear. He was a former owner of Madden Portable Buildings, worked as a heavy machine operator, and spent many years as a ranch manager. He was known as a hard worker and as a man who met life head-on, scrappy in spirit, brutally honest, and at times antagonistic in a way that was rooted in love.
In 1988, he accepted Christ into his life at Eastman Baptist Church in Overbrook, Oklahoma, a decision that remained an important part of his journey.
Ermine also knew how to enjoy the things that made life rich and familiar. He loved fishing above all, and playing cards brought him pleasure as well. He enjoyed watching crime shows and was a devoted fan of the Texas Rangers and the Dallas Cowboys. To those who knew him best, he was remembered not only for his strength, but also as the best grandpa, a title that reflected the love he gave to his family.
He will be remembered with love and gratitude for his service, his steadfast nature, and the life he built through faith, work, and devotion to those he loved.
Ermine was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Hattie Miller, and brother, Billy Estes Miller.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Jerrie Winnette (Clark) Miller; children, Ermine Lee Miller, Jr., Mary Biddy & husband, Kevin, Wil Miller & wife, Terri, grandchildren, Justin Miller, Amanda Veitenheimer & husband, Landon, Brittany Biddy, Josh Biddy, Nicole Huegel & husband, Nick, Katie Rose & husband, Kylix, Gus Miller, and Abigail (Bobbi Jo) Miller; great-grandchildren, Rody, Ryann, Karsyn, Clarke, and Wyatt; siblings, Uyvon Hail, Dixie Dorson, and several nieces and nephews.
