Elsie Hertin

A funeral service for Elsie Hertin, 74, of Keene, will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, August 16, 2025, in the Crosier-Pearson Cleburne Funeral Home Chapel, located at 512 N. Ridgeway Dr., Cleburne, TX 76033. Interment will follow in the Rosehill Cemetery, Cleburne. She will lay in state from 9:00 AM - 8:00 PM at the funeral home on Friday, August 15, 2025.

Elsie John Hertin, beloved matriarch and cherished friend, passed away peacefully on July 19, 2025, in Burleson, Texas She was born on November 13, 1950, in Jabor, Jaluit, Marshall Islands, and was known for her kindness, warmth, and deep love for her family.

Throughout her life, Elsie was a devoted family woman whose door was always open, welcoming all who entered with a warm smile and a heart full of love. Her affinity for music was evident as she often delighted in listening to melodies and playing her ukulele, bringing joy to those around her. Known affectionately as "Bubu," she embraced her role as a grandmother, nurturing and supporting her grandkids with love and affection.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Thompson Hertin; sons, Helson Hertin and Tonmur Hertin; parents, John and Neibol Tonmur; brothers, Daniel John, George John, and Louis John; and sister Almina Loeak.

Elsie is survived by her daughter, Agnes Smith; sons, Domnic Hertin and wife Judnia Riklon, Francis Hertin, and Johnny Hertin; grandkids: Helen Smith, Carl Smith, Takashi Imakita, Jr., George Imakita, Chestina Smith-Imakita, Helson Hertin, Thompson Hertin, Nia Hertin, and Nelmi Hertin; sister, Margaret John Smith, along with a host of other relatives and friends who admired her gentle nature and loving disposition.

Elsie Hertin’s legacy of kindness, devotion to family, and her joyful spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those she touched.
