Edna Harwell

Graveside service for Edna Marie Harwell, 92, of Rio Vista, will be conducted at 10:30 A.M., Wednesday, August 4, 2021, in Rosehill Cemetery. Mr. Kevin Brown will officiate. Visitation will be 9-5:00 P.M., Tuesday, August 3, 2021, at Crosier-Pearson Cleburne funeral home. Honorary pallbearers will be Jeff Harwell, Jacky Sims, Gayland Abernathy, and Scott Sims.

Marie passed away on Thursday, July 29, 2021, in Midlothian. She was born May 6, 1929, in Cleburne to Joe and Jewell Glover Matthews. Marie married James Wesley “J.W.” Harwell on June 14, 1947, in Cleburne. The outdoors is where she found her peace. She loved to garden so much, that she had eleven flowerbeds at one time. She was a talented seamstress and could make anything from quilts to clothing. Marie worked as a seamstress for Walls Industries for numerous years. She had a strong will and independent streak. Marie was a devoted Christian and a member of Rio Vista Baptist Church.

Marie is survived by her daughter, Mary Jean Sims and husband, Jacky; daughter-in-law, Jean Harwell; grandchildren, Scotty Gene Sims and wife, Julie, Cody Harwell, and Carrie Harwell; great-grandchildren, Lacey, Grayson, Addyson, and Jackson; numerous nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

Marie is preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Weldon Joe Harwell; brother, Billy Joe Matthews; and sister, Mildred McDaniel.
