A funeral service for Edith Louise (Gay) Peacock, 96, of Covington, will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, February 7, 2026 in the Crosier-Pearson Cleburne Funeral Home Chapel, located at 512 N Ridgeway Dr, Cleburne, TX 76033, with Minister Dr. Oladimeji Enoch-Babatunde officiating. Interment will follow in the Burleson Memorial Cemetery, with Wesley Peacock, Barry Peacock, Jeromy Peacock, Matt Rhidenour, Brandon Otto, Cody Austin, Byron Waldrip, and John Spivey serving as pallbearers.
Edith Louise (Gay) Peacock, passed away peacefully on February 1, 2026, in Fort Worth. Born on December 27, 1929, in Greenville, Texas, she brought joy and laughter to everyone she encountered throughout her cherished life. She was a beloved matriarch with a vibrant personality.
Known for her sassy humor and energetic spirit, Edith was a true social butterfly. She had a great passion for fashion, always looking her best and enjoying her wardrobe as a reflection of her fun-loving personality. Edith was an avid volunteer at The Texas Health Hospital in Cleburne, where her infectious laughter and approachability made a lasting impact on those around her.
Edith was preceded in death by her husband, J. D. Peacock; her son, Jay Peacock; her grandson, Todd Matthew Simms; her parents, Edward LeRoy Gay and Gladys Lucille Thompson; her sisters Macky Gay and Rojean Boteler.
She is survived by her children, Randy Peacock and his wife Leona, Gary Peacock and his wife Coelene, and Cynthia Wells; her grandchildren, Tiffany Waldrip, Wesley Peacock, Barry Peacock, Jodie Rhidenour, Katy Otto, Jeromy Peacock, Holly Austin, and Cheyenne Spivey; 20 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; her sister, Connie Rux; daughter-in-law, Konnie Peacock and numerous nieces, nephews, and family members.
Edith Louise (Gay) Peacock will be remembered not only for her love of life and passion for fashion but also for the light she brought into the lives of her family and friends. Her legacy will continue to inspire and uplift those who knew her, serving as a reminder of the importance of laughter, love, and family.
