Ed "Pops" Blakeney, Sr.

Ed "Pops" Blakeney, Sr., aged 81, of Cleburne, Texas, passed away peacefully on December 19, 2024. Born on January 9, 1943, in Camp Wood, Texas, Ed was of the Baptist faith. He celebrated a lasting marriage with Vicky Darlyene Copeland, whom he wed on May 3, 1962, in Fort Worth, Texas. Their union spanned over 56 years, filled with love and companionship.

Throughout his life, Ed worked as a truck driver, a profession that enabled him to navigate the open roads he loved. Known for his humor, warm smile, and compassionate nature, he was a beloved figure to all who knew him. Ed had a passion for fishing and enjoyed spending time outdoors, often engaging in activities that brought joy to those around him. An impressive handyman, he had a knack for fixing anything, even claiming the ability to rip a phone book in half.

Ed's legacy lives on through his children, Edmon Blakeney, Jr. and his wife Marie, Melissa O’Brien, Serena Posey and her husband Bobby, Robert Blakeney, and Joseph Stegner. He cherished his grandchildren, including Johnny Woods, David Woods, Phillip Axtell, Noah Jones, William Blakeney, Jordan Blakeney, Matthew Patterson, Zachary Crocker, Donavan Wainright, Jeffery Wainright, April Frye, Desiree Fry, Tiffany Wolforth, Brandi Blakeney, Amanda Anwash, Kayla Crocker, and Jackie Wainright. Ed is also survived by his brother, Jerry Blakeney; sisters, Helen Kelley and Myrtle Frank; 45 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; numerous other relatives; and his beloved dogs, Splinter, Misty, and Princess.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin Franklin and Ollie Feanlee Hamilton Blakeney; his wife, Vicky Bien; son, William Thomas Blakeney; brothers, Alton, James, Jesse, and William Blakeney; sister, Jean Goforth; and grandchildren, Meagan and Joseph Crocker.

Ed Blakeney will be remembered not only for his contributions to his family and community but also for the joy he brought into the lives of those who knew him. His kindness and spirit will continue to resonate in the hearts of all who loved him.
