Dorothy Nelson

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, April 12, 2022 for Dorothy Porter Nelson, 95, of Richland Hills, Texas, in the Greenacres Memorial Park, Cleburne. Pastor Michael Watts will officiate.

Dorothy Nelson passed away April 8, 2022 in North Richland Hills, Texas. She was born January 9, 1927 in Cleburne to John J. and Hattie Morris Porter. Dorothy married Harold Leroy Nelson on August 12, 1949 in Cleburne. She worked as a Certified Nurses Aide for several years. She was the ultimate caregiver of her clients, family and countless others throughout her lifetime. Dorothy’s world centered around God and family. Her strong and unbreakable faith was evident in all aspects of her life. Her prayers were strong, thoughtful, and full of spirit. It has been said that Dorothy was always happy. She enjoyed being outside in her yard. Dorothy’s servant heart as well as her love of God and family will be missed greatly. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband (1979); son, Larry Nelson; granddaughter, Tyra Leray Miller; and siblings, Luther Porter, Evelyn Newsome, Georgie Plemons, Josephine Prine, and Lucille Hodges.

Survivors include her son, Driscol Nelson; daughters, Gloria Favors and husband, Jimmy, and Dottie Jones and husband, Tom; 4 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
