Dorthey Mae Walton McGee passed away on Saturday, June 27, 2026 in Parker County, Texas during a fatal automobile accident along with her mother. Dorthey was born on March 27, 1978 in Cleburne, Texas. She married Shawn Travis McGee on April 27, 2017 in Rio Vista, Texas. Dorthey completed her Medical Assistant certification from Hill College and ATI in 1999 and also attended Stephen F. Austin University. She was a dedicated member of Victory Church, Cleburne since 2007.
Dorthey was someone that you met and never forgot – having been better for meeting her. It has been said that she was the light in the darkness, always greeting you with her big-hearted smile and a hug, like none other. Never did you walk away from Dorthey or end a conversation with her, without hearing “I love you”. She truly loved people beyond circumstance and had a non-judgmental spirit. Dorthey’s laughter was contagious and infectious at the same time, along with her “bubbly” personality. She was also fondly remembered for her ability to be heard even if not seen. Her voice was one you smiled as soon as you heard and never forgot, not just because of her volume, but because of the joy that rang through from just hearing her speak or cheer others on. She was giving, almost to a fault – of her time, her heart, her resources, and her talents. Her giving nature made her the ultimate caregiver, providing care for countless people throughout her lifetime.
Dorthey was a devoted Christian, one with a strong and un-wavering faith – always willing to pray for others. She had a way of uplifting your spirit and encouraging you without even knowing it - through her words, prayers and every day interactions.
Above all that encompassed, who and what Dorthey was, she was family-oriented. Her family and loved ones were at the heart and center of all she did and who she was. They were her priority and her joy, giving meaning to her life. Dorthey leaves a legacy of love, faith and compassion behind. The marks that she leaves on the hearts and souls of those who were blessed to cross her path, will forever be better for knowing and loving her.
Dorthey was preceded in death by her father, Okie Eugene Walton. She passed away along-side her mother, Claudie Mitchell Walton.
Survivors include her husband, Shawn Travis McGee; son, Hunter Hodges; daughter, Pearl Miles; step-son, Christian McGee, Sr.; grandchildren, Jameson Hodges, Vivienne Hodges, and Christian McGee, Jr.; sister, Leslie Walton; niece, Carli Wallace; nephew, Timothy Wallace; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and other family members.
