A memorial gathering for Doris Margaret Scott, 90, of Cleburne, will be held from 1:00-3:00 PM on Sunday, August 17, 2025 at Crosier-Pearson Cleburne Funeral Home in which family and friends can fellowship and share memories. The Scott family would like to give a special thank you to all of the Ridgeview Nursing & Rehabilitation Center Staff and Community Hospice, especially Doris’ hospice nurse, Omar, for all the love and care given to Doris and the family during her time with them.
Doris Margaret Scott passed away on Tuesday, July 29, 2025 in Cleburne. She was born on October 5, 1934 in Montgomery County, Texas. She married B.J. Scott on September 5, 1951 in Brazoria County, Texas. Doris was of the Methodist faith. She worked many years as an x-ray technician, being ahead of her time. Doris was a lady with a strong will, great love of family and feisty nature. She was not one to stay idle, always working on a sewing or knitting project. She could be found in her kitchen cooking, baking or making preserves for loved ones. Her pecan pie and yeast rolls were a few favorites. Doris spent countless hours in her gardens of vegetables and flowers as well. She was an avid reader, word finds and puzzler and Solitaire player. To say she kept busy is an understatement. Doris loved animals of all kinds and enjoying her “quiet”. Above all else, she loved her family and was extremely proud of each of her loved ones. She was quick to share with those around her how proud she was and tell about each family member. Doris will be missed greatly. She is preceded in death by her parents, Robert Marvin Hoke, Hazel Margaret Johnson Hoke Raymond, and L.C. Raymond; husband, B.J. Scott; and son, Billy Joe Scott, Jr.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, James and Rhonda Scott; daughter-in-law, Kay Scott; granddaughter and her husband, Jamie Renee Scott White and Billy Ray; brother, Carl “Sonny” Hoke and his wife, Sharron; sister, Frances Landes; special niece, Renee Landes Tschoerner; as well as a host of other nieces, nephews and extended family members.
