Dorcas Cheek

Private services for Dorcas McVicker Cheek, 76, of Rio Vista will be at a later date.

Dorcas went to join her son in Heaven on Thursday, May 4, 2023 in Cleburne. She was born September 3, 1946, in Cleburne to Phil Clayton and Evelyn Lula Davis McVicker. Dorcas was a member of George’s Creek Baptist Church. She married her high school sweetheart, Johnny Eugene Cheek on November 14, 1962 in Weatherford. Dorcas was a very loving, sweet natured, quick-witted lady who also had a free spirit and giving nature about her. She loved motorcycles, corvettes and crafting of all kinds. Dorcas enjoyed playing Nintendo and beat Mario twice over. She took great pride in her home and family. “Nanny” was her grandson’s best friend. Dorcas will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Johnny Cheek; daughter, Lorie Cheek Briscoe; grandchildren, Johnny Wayne Cheek & Jennifer; great-grandchildren, Jaxen Keaton Cheek and Macon Phoenix Cheek; numerous nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

Dorcas was preceded in death by her parents; son, Cris Cheek; and sisters, Phyllis Anderson and Martha Hendricks.
