Funeral services for Donald “Gene” Pipes, Jr., 62, of Cleburne, will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, April 29, 2022, in the Crosier-Pearson Cleburne Funeral Chapel. Rev. Danny Whitehead will officiate. Interment will follow in the Cleburne Memorial Cemetery. A time of visitation will be held at the funeral home from 6:00-8:00 P.M. on Thursday, April 28, 2022.
Gene passed away Monday, April 25, 2022, in Fort Worth. Gene was born February 15, 1960, in Cleburne to Donald Gene, Sr. and Charlotte Ann Bowman Pipes. He married Donna Marie Curlee on June 4, 1983, in Cleburne. He was of Christian faith and a Mason with the Burleson Masonic Lodge. Gene was a fun-loving man who was larger than life. He enjoyed music of all kinds, attending musical festivals, as well as fishing and hunting. Gene was a family man in every sense of the phrase. He enjoyed countless hours throwing washers or drinking a beer sitting on his porch with family and friends. Gene’s BBQ team, Smokin’ Pipes, competed throughout Texas. He was a true pitmaster and lover of Texas style BBQ. Gene believed in working hard and truly loved his job with U.S. Lime and Minerals, where he served for over 25 years. His love of life and family will be passed on for generations to follow. He will be missed greatly. Gene was preceded in death by his father.
Survivors include his wife, Donna Marie Pipes; children, Brittainy Nicole Pipes, Donnie Gene Pipes, III and his wife, Kellie, and Dani Marie Palmer and her husband, Lane; 6 grandchildren, Jaxon, Baylie, Lexi, Brodie, Aubrie, and Andi; mother, Charlotte Ann Bowman; brother, Keith Pipes and his wife, Carol; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
